At New World Educational Center, we believe that helping our students grow goes beyond academics. Character Counts is a wonderful program that helps teach our students important values and encourages them to think about how they treat others and themselves. The program is built around six pillars of character, which provide a foundation for making positive and responsible choices each day. They are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.
Each month, we will focus on one of the six pillars and find ways to incorporate that value into our school community. To celebrate each month’s pillar, we will have a dress-down day on the last Thursday of the month, with students encouraged to wear the color that represents that pillar.
Our teachers will also have the opportunity to recognize students who demonstrate these character traits by giving them a Character Counts Coupon. Each week, coupons from each of our three PLC groups; K–2, 3–5, and 6–8, will be placed into a drawing, and two students from each group will be selected to receive a prize!
